Looking for files…

Android and iPhone don’t share a built-in way to swap files. fdrop works on both: open fdrop.cc in Chrome on Android and Safari on iPhone, and send files either direction.

Because it runs in the browser, it also works with friends’ phones and computers without asking anyone to install something first.

How it works

  1. 1

    Open fdrop.cc

Open it on the Android phone and on the other device, on the same Wi-Fi.

  2. 2

    Pick files

Tap the box, choose photos, videos, PDFs or any file up to 1 GB.

  3. 3

Grab it on the other side

It appears under “On your network”. Or tap Copy and send the link in any chat.

Questions

How do I send files from Android to iPhone?

Open fdrop.cc on both phones on the same Wi-Fi, upload on the Android phone, and tap Download when the file appears on the iPhone. Over mobile data, copy the link and send it in WhatsApp or Messages instead.

Is this the same as Quick Share or Nearby Share?

Quick Share works between Android, Chromebook and Windows devices with the app. fdrop needs no app and also works with iPhones and Macs.

Is fdrop free?

Yes. There is no account, no app and no payment. Upload files up to 1 GB each and share them for as long as you choose, from 1 hour to 30 days.

How long are files kept?

2 hours by default. You can pick 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days or 30 days before uploading. After that the file is deleted automatically, and you can delete it earlier yourself.

Is it private?

Files travel over HTTPS, are stored encrypted at rest and get a random link that is not listed anywhere. Only devices on your own network see files in the “On your network” list, and you can turn that off per upload.
