fdrop

A Snapdrop alternative with links that work anywhere

Same-network sharing like Snapdrop, plus a link for every file so you can send it to anyone.

On your network

live
Looking for files…

Snapdrop and PairDrop are great when both devices are online at the same moment. fdrop stores the file for as long as you choose, so the other person can download it later, from anywhere.

Devices on the same Wi-Fi still see each other’s files automatically, so it feels just as quick in the room.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop a file

Upload anything up to 1 GB on fdrop.cc.

  2. 2

    Nearby devices see it

Anyone on your Wi-Fi with fdrop open sees it under “On your network”.

  3. 3

    Or share the link

Copy the link and send it anywhere. It works until the file expires.

Questions

How is fdrop different from Snapdrop or PairDrop?

Snapdrop and PairDrop send files directly between two open browsers. fdrop uploads the file once and keeps it for the time you pick, so the receiver doesn’t need to be online at the same moment and can be on a different network.

Do both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

Only for the automatic “On your network” list. The share link works from any network, including mobile data.

Is fdrop free?

Yes. There is no account, no app and no payment. Upload files up to 1 GB each and share them for as long as you choose, from 1 hour to 30 days.

How long are files kept?

2 hours by default. You can pick 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days or 30 days before uploading. After that the file is deleted automatically, and you can delete it earlier yourself.

Is it private?

Files travel over HTTPS, are stored encrypted at rest and get a random link that is not listed anywhere. Only devices on your own network see files in the “On your network” list, and you can turn that off per upload.
